Who We Are
Association for Rural Development (ARD) – Kavre is a non-governmental, non-profit, and non-political organization committed to innovative development and resource mobilization for the socio-economic empowerment of marginalized and disadvantaged communities in Nepal. Established in 1990 and formalized in 1992, ARD-Kavre has been working tirelessly to create social justice, social transformation, and sustainable development.
We take an integrated, participatory approach – partnering with communities to address key issues in education, health, climate action, governance and human rights.

Our mission
Our mission is to empower marginalized rural communities in Nepal. We promote social justice and sustainable development by improving education, governance, human rights, climate resilience, water and sanitation.

Our vision
ARD-Kavre seeks a peaceful and harmonious society in which socio-economic and politically disadvantageous, marginalized and vulnerable groups (regarding class, caste, gender, and age) enjoyed their life in dignity with assurance of their life.

ARD- Kavre lead to equitable and sustainable development through mainstreaming socio- economic and politically excluded groups (poor, indigenous and so called “Dalit”, women, and children).

Our Objectives
Quality Education :
We strive to ensure quality education by establishing child-friendly schools, increasing school enrollment, and improving retention rates.
WASH (Water Supply and Sanitation) :
Through social awareness programs, we promote healthy habits, hygiene, and community sanitation, improving the overall well-being of communities.
Accountability and Good Governance :
We engage communities in public dialogue and advocate for good governance, transparency, and accountability at the local level.
Human Rights :
We empower marginalized groups, including indigenous communities, women, differently-abled individuals, children, and economically disadvantaged communities, through advocacy for human rights, women's rights, child rights, and protection.
Climate Change Resilience :
We work towards building climate change-resilient communities by promoting sustainable practices and adaptation strategies
Our Impact
Over the years, ARD-Kavre has made significant contributions to creating positive change and improving the lives of marginalized communities. Through our initiatives, we have:
- Increased access to quality education by establishing child-friendly schools and improving school enrollment and retention rates.
- Enhanced community awareness about health, hygiene, and sanitation through our WASH programs.
- Empowered marginalized groups, including women, children, indigenous communities, and economically disadvantaged individuals, by advocating for their rights and protection.

Legal Status and Affiliations
Association for Rural Development (ARD- Kavre) has been registered in District Administration Office, Kavre under the Ministry of Home in 2049 BS (1992) with no. 58-049/50. It has the Association is the member organization of various government, semi-government and non- government organizations. The major affiliations of the organization are NGO Federation of Nepal, District Coordination Committee of Social Organization (DCCSO), and District Coordination Committee (DCC) Kavre district of Nepal.
Similarly ARD has been closely coordinating with different government line agencies including District Administration Office, Kavre , Social Welfare Council , NGO Federation of Nepal, District Coordination Committee Kavre, District Coordination Committee of Social Organization,
Join us for giving back to the community
Volunteering with ARD will allow you to directly be connected with the grassroot levels, children and women, located especially at rural communities. Youths from any educational background are welcomed to volunteer with us.
